The Learning Center was established for infants, toddlers, and pre-schoolers to provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment within a Christian context, which would affirm God's love and values and at the same time provide a happy place in which to learn and grow.

Pre–Kindergarten – 4 to 5 year olds
Our pre-kindergarten classes could be described by the title itself... before, or getting ready for Kindergarten! In this class we focus on learning skills that will be needed in Kindergarten, such as:

» Alphabet and number recognition
» Pre-reading
» Pre-math
» Learning to follow directions
» Beginning printing
» Being able to function in a group setting

The German word "Kindergarten" is translated as a "child's garden" of varied experiences. Your child experiences this "garden" using our self-pronouncing alphabet (S.P.A.) and its accompanying curriculum. Our week is centered around a letter, a sound and an animal-of-the-week from the SPA curriculum. We have stories, pictures, games, crafts, songs, education videos and other centers that relate to the weekly subject.

For our first letter-sound "Ape A", we study not only the long "A" sound (pre-reading concept) but also the life and habits of apes (sciences) and the countries where apes may be found (social studies). We may play ape counting games (pre-math) sample ape food, sing songs and do artwork on an ape theme. We know learning can be fun and this curriculum takes us on many wonderful adventures.

The children learn many Bible stories throughout the year. We use our giant flannel board along with videos, pictures, and drama to make the stories come alive for the children. We have our praise song time and prayer time to call upon the Lord and help the children get to know their heritage in the Lord. We do not teach any denominational theology. The children learn what is in the Word, the Bible.

The children are outside before lunch and then after quiet time. After lunch children rest on mats for at least 45 minutes. The room remains quiet until all children get adequate rest time, but not beyond 2:30. We do not wake sleeping children before 2:30 and do not purposefully keep a child awake.
